yeh, i need to sort this thin out, the modem i cant replace becaus its connected and configured to work with the tv box and etc... but i could connect a router to it and try to connect to it by wireless
Provided your Modem supports DOCSIS 3.0 you'll be set, if it's 2.0 it's time for an upgrade. You can ask your ISP. As for the Router I would definitely recommend an upgrade, it sounds like your router only supports 802.11b/g which is why you get such slow Wi-Fi speeds. Look for a Router that has 802.11n or 802.11ac for 5GHz devices
im alredy searching for routers, and asking a friend for is to test this thing after buying something

but what you guys think of what im paying»? is it equal to your's is it a good deel or bad?

My ISP charges about $60 USD for 50Mb/s speed on a cable connection (Comcast).

I just got a Linksys N750. It was less then $100, uses 802.11n w/ 5GHz and has a gigabit router (up to 1000Mb/s transfer speed, I can move 8 GB from my computer to my wife's in less then 5 minutes).

When buying a new Modem or Router it's a good idea to ask what your ISP supports/recommends. If you buy a Modem or Router that your ISP doesn't support and you have issues with your Internet one of the first things they're gonna do is ask what Modem or Router you're using, if it's unsupported they'll tell you that is the issue and put the phone down. If you are using a Supported Modem/Router they have to help you. Another advantage of having a supported Modem/Router is the ISP can provide Firmware updates to that device (atleast the Modem) which can make quite a difference in speed.
just be happy lol, I get about 1mb max, normally about 500kb :(

i just find out that my router/modem as a network card that can old up to 1000Mb/s...
and i tested 3 computers with wireless and they all gone for 40Mb/s

im gonna try to connect another router to it and connect myself to thar by wireless :S
The 1000Mb/s rating on your router is the wired speed rating. 10/100/1000Mb/s ratings are common, and are also affected by the quality of the cable you run from your router to your computer.

The wireless speed max is determined by what type of wireless router it is.

If you're on Windows 7 (or higher) you can usually 'Network' and your Router should appear under other devices

you double click on it and it will open your web browser and from here you can change your settings and configure things

Most routers you can just connect by typing to 192.168.1.1 into your browser's address bar.

May want to check your computer's wireless card as well. That could also be the issue.
cant be the computer cause i tested 3 diferent computers so xD

What wireless protocals do they support? If they don't support N as well, but only use G/B/A, then that is a bottle neck that can cause the issue. It is cheaper to replace a wireless card in a computer then to replace the router as well.

That and even if you update the router, if the computers are the bottleneck, it will fix nothing.

That being said, you need to be careful with Wireless USB adapters, because they vary in quality greatly.

You guys are a lot more patient than I. I'd be issuing bans to every random community badge spammer I saw :).
