Is Windows 8 bad when it comes to gaming?

I understand that a lot of people hate windows 8 for being so different to previous windows systems, but I was curious if windows 8 affects me anyway with my gaming experience that could be avoided if i had windows 7 instead. I am NOT a genius when it comes to computer tech so for all I know it has no difference but i just wanted to be a aware of any problems on my computer.

With Win 8.1, I have seen pretty much the exact same compatibility as Win 7 and in a good number of cases increased performance.

Windows 8 is perfectly fine for gaming, and may in fact give performance boosts to certain games.

i was able to run steam on windows 8.1 with no problems, you shouldn't have any problem with it for games

That may be good for you, but if the OP is a novice at all this I would still recommend keeping your Windows up to date , even if only for security reasons

It's not your job to enforce the windows updates on anyone (Keyloggers)

You can say (some windows updates mite cause you more harm than
good so be careful on what you install

I appreciate the help from all of you for explaining the answer is a simple way, every time i have a question, I am answered. so many people responded when i need help and it always reminds me of what a great community steam has.

Just to underline here, if you were speaking of Windows 8.0 then I'd urge caution. Windows 8.1 appears to have ironed out the majority of issues (although things naturally pop up from time to time).

One thing I would urge is to ALWAYS keep your OS up-to-date, and to ignore the silly statement from the user saying you might not want to (and the silly keyloggers scaremongering). From a security standpoint ALONE it's paramount.
