Support for Patrician IV CD key issue
Is there anyone support for English speaking people? I keep going in circles trying to get support, I really need to find someone that speaks and understands English. My CD Key for a game says already in use, so I was sent steps to try out, which all failed, then it says if they fail contact support, which I do and they send me the same steps which I try again just in case and they again fail so I contact support since they failed and they send me the same steps again and I'm not going to keep repeating the same steps so I replied saying that and they sent me the same failed steps again. I don't know if it's a prank or a computer automatically responding but it's not helping.

Indeed. His entire post makes it seem he can't activate the game on his account, but it's on his account, so that's not the issue.

You keep replying as though I bought the key of someone else or bought the game some where else.... search on Steam in games for Patrician IV - Steam Special Edition- that's where I made the purchase. Why is this so hard to understand? I BOUGHT IT ON STEAM AND DOWNLOADED IT - I've played it before! When on steam on my PC - I installed it, hit play - it goes to a screen asking for the Key, I put the key in that steam gives me and that's where I get the error. I BOUGHT IT ON STEAM - can you not undestand why im frustrated.... I BOUGHT IT ON STEAM. I downladed in on STEAM. Is that game advertised on Steam not considered a game I bought on steam? When I go to the steam store... and buy a game, I consider that buying a game from steam.

Make a screenshot to end the debate

We already moved past the notion that you bought it on Steam. We simply stated that the whole way that you were representing your problem absolutely doesn't reflect that and instead really makes it sound like you're having problems activating your game on Steam (adding it to Steam).

"it goes to a screen asking for the Key"

So, the Kalypso Launcher you mean? (figured I'd install the game myself to see how the install goes)

The game is already attached to your account. Why do you need the key?

Looking at your profile, it was the last game you played on Steam (at the time of this posting).

Seeing as it is the game asking, you will need to use the same account that you originaly used with the game (not Steam account, but the Kalypso account). The game uses a 3rd party DRM/account system. The key may only be usable when making a Kalypso account, then gets marked as used by their system.

This is a 3rd part issue, btw, as Steam has nothing to do with the game beyond selling it and they don't offer support for 3rd party games (only Valve games and Steam account issues).

Your best bet is to contact Kalypso about the issue.

To be fair, the game doesn't appear to ask for an account, just the product key. Looks like it uses the Kalypso key as a 3rd party login.

Realistically there should be no reason the CD Key he has in the location I mentioned before shouldn't work though, mine did.

Mine comes up with an account log-in page, asking for an e-mail and password. There is even an option if you forgot your password.

Which one. Rise of a Dynasty or Steam Special Edition? The latter for me asked for the Product Key. Didn't install Rise since it sounds like the OP doesn't have it.

Once I entered the key the game started loading. (Alt F4-ed it there)

Patrician IV - Steam Special Edition, same as the OP. I posted a link too, though that was while you were replying.

Hmm, it's possible my firewall was blocking the launcher. Now that I think about it, it didn't load the web part of it. Perhaps if it can't connect it defaults to asking for the key. I'll try again.

Edit: Ok, that won't work without a complete reinstall. Seems like it might be the case though.

which game?
Satoru Oct 11, 2014 @ 5:44pm
Do you have a kalypso account?

The problem is the error message you're getting is from the KALYPSO LAUNCHER. Which again is where 'being extremel specific' is important.

This is not a Steam issue, its a Kalypso problem. They think your key is registered somwhere else. Ither to a different Kalypso account you created or such. You'll need to talk with kalypso concerning your error.

Again this is NOT a Steam error, which again, is why people are so confused about your problem

That was it... Kalypso

And you are correct, I work IT... and I did what I hate others do.. not enough info...
Windows 8.1 - running steam in windows 7
when I launch the game, I only see user name and password - I don't see Kalypso...
so I put in my user ID and password... for steam - which magically works... then enter the key with magically fails...
I put it back on my laptop - windows 7
now I see everything... hmmm wonder if I used a different email address....
"sigh" yep that was it...
I work IT... so what you're thinking.. I'm hearing :) loud and clear.

thanks for your help and putting up with my error... Soon as I get it installed again on my main PC I'll post a pic of what I see.

Doing a quick google search seems to indicate that there's likely a linking problem between your kalypso account and the cd-key.

The only way to really resolve it is to contact Kalypso. Theyll need your cd-key and the email of the kalypso account you registered it iwth

and then I also remembered... I register with other sites under a different email incase someone hacks my account and tries to install my games that require the key and a third party site login...... they wouldn't know I used a different email... it worked so well... even I had a difficult time :)
