Steam won't open
Hi! I'll explain everything as it is so the nice people willing to help can understand the problem, or just try to help in the best way they can.
So, I never had Steam on my laptop before, decided to buy a game and it's only available here, on Steam. I bought the game, made my account and downloaded Steam, but now, when I click on the desktop shortcut, all it does is do the 89-something update and then, nothing.
Steam just doesn't open, at all.
I've tried restarting my laptop, I've tried uninstalling and installing it again. Nothing works.
I've really, never been on Steam yet. Didn't get the chance to enter my account and such, so I doubt the problem is the account, which is good because that means my game is still there, intact. Well, at least I think.
Anyway, I looked and looked on the internet for similar problems and solutions, but most of them are from years ago, and they don't work.
Please, please, help! I really want to play this game! I don't want to have wasted my money!

I'm kind of new to this, so, I apologize if this is a very obvious problem.

have you tried disabling all security software (anti virus/malware, firewall, etc..) and running the steam installer and later the atual client as an administrator?

I just did, and nothing changed. It still won't open. Thank you though.

Some of the basics to try are flushing Steam's config file, , repairing Steam, making sure drivers are up to date, reinstalling team,using various admin/compatibility settings, etc...

If there is a program o rsetting keeping you from launching steam, you can create a new windows admin user accountthat does not share anythinhg with your main account. If you can install and run on the second account then it must be a program or setting causing the problem.

repair usually means running the installer without fullyuninstalling first. I'm just throwing out ideas untilo someone else chimes in.

Not really going to help here as the OP is trying to acces a game he has already bought. You can obviously view the Steam Store as a webpage, but that's only really useful if you either want to look up something or buy it.

All I can add here, OP, is that if you can't get Steam cancelled through Task Manager, your best bet is to try and reboot your PC and see if it remains like that. If it doesn't, then simply try the repair stuff again, as having the process still sat open will be likely to be stopping you doing what you're trying to do.

If Steam is STILL stuck in your Task Manager, then I'm not sure what to try next.
