Steam Refund in the UK
I'd like to refund FSX:Steam Edition as it is barely any different to the one I already own on disc. I've heard that there is APPARENTLY hope for UK citizens to get a refund. Is this true? If so, I'd like to refund FSX:SE.

As it has been downloaded and played, then the likelihood of a refund in zero, even in the UK.

As per the SSA:

http://store.steampowered.com/subscriber_agreement/

IF YOU ARE AN EU SUBSCRIBER YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO WITHDRAW FROM A PURCHASE TRANSACTION FOR DIGITAL CONTENT WITHOUT CHARGE AND WITHOUT GIVING ANY REASON UNTIL DELIVERY OF SUCH CONTENT HAS STARTED OR PERFORMANCE OF THE SERVICE HAS COMMENCED. YOU DO NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO WITHDRAW FROM A TRANSACTION OR OBTAIN A REFUND ONCE DELIVERY OF THE CONTENT HAS STARTED OR THE PERFORMANCE OF THE SERVICE HAS COMMENCED, AT WHICH POINT YOUR TRANSACTION IS FINAL. YOU AGREE THAT DELIVERY OF DIGITAL CONTENT, AND THE ASSOCIATED SUBSCRIPTION, AND/OR PERFORMANCE OF THE ASSOCIATED SERVICE, COMMENCES AT THE MOMENT THE DIGITAL CONTENT IS ADDED TO YOUR ACCOUNT OR INVENTORY OR OTHERWISE MADE ACCESSIBLE TO YOU FOR DOWNLOAD OR USE.

Please tell me if this is true or not. As it says, "The UK law overrides any terms and conditions I have accepted on your website".

A lot of wrong info in that link. I'm guessing the support guy just wanted to keep the customer happy rather than oblige any law.

The SSA is in line with the laws.

9) Better consumer protection in relation to digital products

Information on digital content will also have to be clearer, including about its compatibility with hardware and software and the application of any technical protection measures, for example limiting the right for the consumers to make copies of the content.

Consumers will have a right to withdraw from purchases of digital content, such as music or video downloads, but only up until the moment the actual downloading process begins.

3. Unless the parties have agreed otherwise, the consumer may not exercise the right of withdrawal provided for in paragraph 1 in respect of contracts:

- for the supply of audio or video recordings or computer software which were unsealed by the consumer

Ah well, what a shame, I can't believe I wasted £20 on this.

Uninstalling the game won't help, no but you can contact steam support to request the refund, just as long as you know they are under no obligation to do so.

Make a steam support account and open a ticket.

No, no. Wait a second.

https://www.gov.uk/accepting-returns-and-giving-refunds

In the UK, "It’s illegal to display any notice that deliberately misleads consumers or deceives them about their rights, eg a sign that says you don’t accept returns or offer refunds."

Dont worry, steam is correct and anything you think you found is wrong. Steams refund policy is in no way breaking any regional laws.

No one misled or deceived you.

You do realise it is, yes? I am aware that you're a moderator, but as it clearly states, it's illegal to display a notice saying you do not accept returns or offer refunds.

The steam refund policy and steam subscriber agreement are things you agreed to before signing up to steam and before making any purchase. Neither the SSA nor Steam refund policy breaks any UK laws. What was it you wanted out of this? all the info was given yesterday.

I'm afraid it must do, as it states. This IS the Gov.UK website we're talking about here.
