DISK WRITE ERROR - Age of Mythology: Extended Edition Installation
Hi everybody
So, since I've bought AOM, when I'm downloading, the download stops at about 140MB. And it says: "An error ocurred while updating Age of Mythology: Extended Edition (disk write error)".
I already found multiple fixes for this problem, but none of them seem to work for me.
If I look into the content_log.txt file it says that a file is missing.
I checked my (E:) Drive (thats where my steam is located) for errors but it didn't find any.
I even reinstalled steam multiple times, but it still doesnt work. Surprisingly, if I install steam on my (C:) Drive, it does work, but I have very little memory storage on this drive, thats why I have steam installed on (E:). I've been trying to install it for about 2 months now. If anyone has a helpful tip for my problem, I'd be glad to hear it.
Please help me

Thanks in advance,
mariolinkshadow

I have the same problem!
Hey dude, thx for the reply. You don't have a solution to the problem either, right? :/
How are your permissions if you right mouse click your D:\ -drive > Properties > Security.

Got Write & Modify in the Allow -list?
My file that had the disk write error was actually completely missing.. I followed it through the directory (so it said disk write error.. blah blah.. 'steamapps/downloading/22680/sounds/xtaunts/es/022 sí, ya... .mp3" or something along those lines) and once I got to the "es" folder the "022 si, ya... .mp3" was actually just not there at all, hence why I was getting the error message. The most annoying thing about it is that the file that I'm missing is one of the sound taunts in Spanish which is not essential, but alas I cannot move on with the installing/downloading/update without it. I got to 77% downloaded before this happened. If anyone knows a fix around this or a way t get the file pls let me know.
I actually got it to work recently ! I just made a second steam library on my other hard-drive and selected the game to be installed in this secondary location (can be chosen when starting the download/installation). It downloaded without any errors! So i guess it was the problem of the hard drive. If you don't have the possibility to install it on an other drive aswell, i would probably backup your files and check your disk for bad sectors or even format it entirely new (assuming you have a backup).

Hope this helps!
????
Yeah I am having this same problem, with the same Spanish Taunt file... no way is it coincidence. Sadly I only have one hard drive though...

no this is not correct. I have 3 different install directories on 3 different drives and cannot install to any of them.
antivirus issue confirmed.
