Steam preventing me from adding a friend

I blocked someone for a short time because they were being annoying, then when I unblocked them and tried to add them again it just keeps giving me "Error adding Friend. Communication between you and this user has been blocked." The person I am trying to add has confirmed he hasn't got me on his blocked list either.

I've tried blocking them again, then unblocking, I've tried restarting steam, but I don't really know what else to do.

I've only seen one other forum post on this and it didn't help me at all.

Any help on this issue would be great.

If the user denies all invites via ingore all/ingores you,then you can't add him.
If deny an invite from user,it counts as ingore. You have to block em then unblock again.

It is safe to say that you have already tried everything.

Now, it's his turn to block/unblock you (again).

Thanks, this actually worked. After quite a few minutes of blocking and unblocking and blocking and unblocking the invite went through.

That means they've blocked you
I've had alot of my friends who blocked me over something stupid and I go to there profile, notice they unfriended me, and I click "Add Friend"
this pops up 1 microsecond later
"Error adding Friend. Communication between you and this user has been blocked."

You cannot be sure you're not in there block list, unless you are able to hack into there account. the block then unblock thing wont work.
Restarting steam wont do anything about it. I've been on steam for a while. I know how blocking works.

Well, I have the same problem and friend is saying that I'm not on her block list and she is not on mine.. We are about to test block and unblock

Yeah same someone scammed me for 13$ and I tried to msg him and he went offline. I tried to add him and it said "Error adding Friend. Communication between you and this user has been blocked." It sucked how I got scammed I'm so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pissed.
