Family sharing games
I own project zomboid, and would like my partner to be able to play with me. She's added as a family member so she can play the game as well, but when she plays it, I'm locked out, and same vice versa. Any way we could play it at the same time together? Or will she need to purchase it herself? Thanks for your time

one license = 1 person playing. she needs her own copy if both of you want to play together

You would have to use Remote Play Together to play using a single copy of Project Zomboid as you can not use 1 single copy to play the same game through Steam Families.

Scroll down to the "Remote Play Together" section here...

How It Works

1. Launch A Game - With support for Remote Play Together.

2. Invite A Friend - From your Friends List, invite anyone to play.

3. Play Together - They accept and... BOOM! You're playing together.

Thank you as well! Got her exploring the tutorial so we'll try that when she's done
If you are trying to play split screen co-op, you can do so with out a second game license. It allows for Steam Remote play between two accounts, even with out Family Share.
I ended up getting the game for her, with the play together thing we could't figure out how to make it work, she could see my screen as if I were streaming, but I could hand over controls to her and then I could see what she did on my screen. One world, one character, but we both could control it. We each have a pc so I was hoping it would work over LAN, but I couldn't figure it out and we don't have a lot of time to game together

I had enough gaming cash so I just gifted it to her, now i just have to just relearn how to play myself (it's been about 7 months or something since I last played lol)

Thanks for the help everyone

Should have waited. Steam Summer Sale starts on the 26th.
Ah dang, didn't break the bank tho, and I don't mind supporting the devs of this game. Even after a decade they're still working on it and are fairly active with the fandom. Can't say the same for most game devs
