Playstation 5 Controller LED and Steam
We can change the LED on this controller via Steam, so I customized mine and disabled the "Player 1 Light," which was quite annoying and too bright for me. However, when I play with this controller, for example, in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, the game overrides my settings, disables my custom LED, and only activates the "Player 1 Light."

If I try to force my chosen LED settings through Steam (with PlayStation Controller Support enabled), the game stops showing PlayStation button prompts and switches to Xbox prompts instead, though my LED colors remain as I set them.

Is there ANY way to keep my custom LED settings and still have PlayStation prompts in-game?

Clair Obscur is just one example because I’m currently playing it, but every Steam game changes the LED on my PS5 controller when I disable "PlayStation Controller Support." And when I leave it enabled to preserve the LED color, the games show Xbox prompts...

This sounds like a game issue with that game. Ask the developers of that game. There is contact information on the store page and email them about why the game does this. This is not a steam issue. This is a particular game issue. Posting it here will not fix it. Be proactive and email the developers to get it fixed.

Like I said: I have this issue with other games aswell. For example Wuthering Waves or Ghost Song.
huh..i would contact both steam support and sony support and see what both of them say about it.

Also make sure to check if there is no firmware updates for your controller too on the developers website, which would be sony or whoever developed the controller.

Firmware is up to date, that was the first thing I tried. I’m asking here because this is the Help and Tips section, especially for such questions, and maybe someone else has had the same problem and found a solution. Telling me to ask somewhere else isn’t helpful in the slightest. So… thanks for nothing, I guess.

Look we are not technical geniuses on here. I can only advise what you should do in a logical way. So if your going to be rude, just see how many people will be willing to help you now.

You mentioned I should contact X because it’s a game-specific issue, but I clearly explained that the problem occurs in every game I’ve tested. That tells me you likely didn’t read the full post to begin with.

Also, this is the Help and Tips section - where else would I ask a question like this if not here.

I’m just looking for someone who might have dealt with the same problem and found already a solution and knows what might be causing this. If you can't help, don't say anything at all...

Thanks.

I didn't even realize you can change the LED color via Steam.
So I did a test. Changed the color to red.
Went into Cyberpunk since it supports DuelSense and I have the controller enabled setting disabled. I never noticed this before but when the cops showed up. It started flashing red & blue.
Then I tried The Last of Us 2 and what do you know. The game started. LED goes back to light blue. I decided to go back into the Steam settings so I hit the windows key. LED went back to red. My controller is also wired. I never use bluetooth.
Try the windows key and see if that works. Or whatever that key is called between L/CTRL and L/Alt...

EDIT - Just tested it again on TLOU 2 and it worked. Hit the win. Hit it again to go away. Color stayed red.
I don't know if any of this will even help.
Plus half the games I play don't even support DuelSense so I have controller settings enabled. Always remapping keys.
