Does deleting local contents delete saves?
So just recently I decided that I want to free my space up on my main drive so I transferred most of my games over to an external hard drive. Now with the games gone from my main drive, it still has the highlighted white letters as if the games were still installed from my steam game list. The only way to remove the highlight seems to be using the delete local content(from what I remember) option. So will deleting the local content delete everything including saves in other directories? Or will it just delete the folder in the steamapp/common folder?

I think you can also just restart Steam, and it will find that the game is missing
steam has cloud saves. so it shouldn't effect your saves, but in the event your game does not have that, you backed them up on your other device. if you're concerned, just upplug the device and delete local content.
So... does it delete the saved data from my computer or no? Cloud save doesn't save everything.
I guess it will depend on the game. A number of them (at least from my collection) would make a new folder under "My Documents" with the respective company or game name and the saves would be found there. Scanning through, my save data from the games I've "locally deleted" are still there.

Though I know mostly old games and some more modern ones would still store save data in the same folder as the game itself. That's a different story.

If you want to be more sure, use these to find all the saves and back them up maybe:
http://www.gamesave-manager.com/
Moving your games/Library never affects your saves. If you want to back them up they will either be: \Users\<youraccount>\ Documents\My Games, (most likely) OR \Steam\Steamapps\Common\<gamename>\Save.

Either way if you just enable cloud sync it won't matter - just re-install your OS or whatever you intend to do and voila.=)
It depends on the game, I think. Most games have the save files saved to the cloud, however, I know (at least in the past) Terraria's save data would be wiped and wasn't saved to the cloud. Just make a back up of the save file(s) you want to keep before you Delete Local Content.
