Your mouse might of worn out. Being that old, it is possible it has. Those pc mouses only tend to last for only about 5 years, and your lucky it worked that long. I suggest buying a new one if you can.
Let me compare my logitech F310 controller. It wore out after 6 months of playing games. I actually switched controllers because of it's short lived lifecycle.
So in that case, it must be a software issue on your pc. Check your background programs and see if anything is using your mouse. It sounds like a background program might have access to your mouse somehow.
What random open program is it taking you to? Can you name it on here please? It may be the cause of this.
