One option is to install an old version of PSNow but I'd suggest using DsHidMini and if you want a wireless connection, BthPS3.
can find info and a link to installation instructions here: https://docs.nefarius.at/projects/DsHidMini/
At PCGamingWiki, they cover options, steps and other info
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Controller:DualShock_3#Wired_connection_-_official_drivers
(set-up options starts where that link takes you, but there is also good info above it)
Do note that even though those plugins exist to make the PS3 be usable, be prepared that it won't ALWAYS work.
As with any proprietary controller (like a Nintendo or Sony controller) they emulate the Xbox cntroller, so you will get the messed up buttons prompts sometimes that someone spoke of above, but you can also find that a game you've been playing just suddenly refuses to work.
I've never found out a good answer why this is, but it commonly happens on these forums. So just a heads up.
Oh and watch out if you play games like a few of the Resident Evil titles (especially 4 - not the remake). There's a weird issue with them where not only does it do the button prompts as Xbox, but EVERY QTE section you will ALWAYS fail first time, as there's an issue with it recognising the inputs. You will do fine if you continue and reattempt the section though.
