I updated Windows and now Steam games launch slow. Need help.
I just updated Windows with the new update, and now all of my Steam games takes more time to launch. I notice it every time, and I don't understand what the update did to my computer. Any advice? Can I roll back or do something else? What's happening?

Rollback was unavailable, but there is an optional update (24H2).
Will this optional update fix the problem (or maybe make it worse)?
I read on the internet that many people have problems with 24H2 update, so I am not sure if this will help me at all.

The delay when launching a game is like 5-10 seconds longer than before.
I am sure the latest Windows Update broke something, but rollback is unavailable..

From what i have read it causes additional issues but that does not necessary mean it would affect you. I would look up what those issues are and see if they relate to you.

Before you do.

Do the following and see if it finds and fixes any issues with your current version of Windows.

Important: Run ALL from an admin command prompt. (Run as administrator option).

Note: you can copy, paste the commands.

First:

sfc /scannow

Next:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

Note: If CheckHealth finds no issues you do not need to run the two options listed below.

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

After doing sfc /scannow, I got the following message:
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline
repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

Is this a bad sign?

I will do the rest now. Thanks for the help.

I did DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth, and got this message:
No component store corruption detected.
The operation completed successfully.

So I guess I do not need to run the last two options.

I will check now if the problem is solved or not.

The problem is still there.
There is approx 10 seconds delay when launching Steam games.
Guess I will wait for a new Windows update.
I am used to Steam games launching instantly, so this problem is new to me.
It was fine before the latest Windows update.
I might try 24H2 update, but I must read more about this optional update first.

Have you read other steam post from the past, such as low disk space can have huge impact on performance.

Dont forget we other use past user above point in, that did not seem to be the issue here, according to you.

Do know windows task manager and disk busy at 100%,

And other old issue like defragmentation app run sametime or windows backup run while you game.

make sure windows is idle before you start steam and game even, or maybe or know what background task is running at pc can effect then play games.

Ok, thanks. Looking at this article right now.
If this doesn't solve the problem, and I find a way to roll back to 22H2, do you think it is safe to be on this older Windows build?
I am still trying to figure out why I can not roll back to 22H2..

I did everything that was written in this article, and it worked!
Thanks for this. Appreciate it.
Now my Steam games launch instantly again.
I will wait with the 24H2 update, because I read that this update can lead to more problems.

Good to hear. Enjoy instant booting games.

Wait for the Microsoft to work through the issues with 24H2. As far as i know they blocked it from being automatically downloaded.
