And the moral is that if you do business with shady people sometimes it doesn't work out for you. Shopping around is fine, but there are legitimate businesses, and not so legitimate ones. Buying something from the man in the alley behind the store because you don't want to pay the price the store charges carries the risk of you losing more money than you could have saved.
