0x3008 error

ISSUE
Steam tries to update but I keep geting a 0x3008 error after it tries to download a update over and over.

OS
Windows 10


STEPS
Clicked on the steam icon on my desktop
I get this pop up https://i.imgur.com/h12cFB9.png


EXPECTED
Steam would start up normally like it always does.


Doesn't anyone know a fix to this?

On linux (Opensuse Tumbleweed) same problem here. I wrote to steam support about this error.

You don't mention try run it as admin one time only, and see if this still do the trick.

UPDATE: on my pc im run steam on therminal (for non-linux user is just cmd for linux) and work

yea I ran it as admin and it doesn't do anything.

I have the same problem. and it seems a lot of people have it. seems to be a problem with an update. I hope they fix it soon.

1. Run Steam with Command-Line Arguments
Right-click on the Steam shortcut on your desktop or in the Start menu.
Select "Properties".
In the "Target" field, where you see the path to the steam.exe file, add the arguments at the end. It should look something like this:
Copy

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -forcesteamupdate -forcepackagedownload -overridepackageurl http://web.archive.org/web/20240520if_/media.steampowered.com/client -exitsteam
Click "Apply", then "OK".

2. Run Steam and Wait for the "Update"
Launch Steam using the modified shortcut.
Steam will start the "update" process, but it will actually download an older version of the client. Once done, Steam will close automatically.
3. Modify the Arguments Again
Go back to the Steam shortcut properties.

Remove the previous arguments and replace them with the following:

Copy
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" -noverifyfiles -nobootstrapupdate -skipinitialbootstrap -norepairfiles -overridepackageurl
Click "Apply", then "OK".

4. Run Steam Again
Launch Steam using the modified shortcut.

It should now run the downgraded version.

Run a steam config flush. It will reset all steam settings to default and automatically update to newest version of steam.
