Question about save files et al & upgrading my PC OS
So I've been stalling on upgrading my PC's OS from Windows 8.1 to WIndows 11. I was wondering, will my saves for games I have installed on Steam be erased if I upgrade my OS & re-install Steam? I'm worried about losing out on the progress of the games I have for both Steam & GoG Galaxy.

If the game uses the Steam Cloud your saves will be downloaded with the game.

If you it doesnt use the cloud you have to backup them.

If I were you, I would save everything from AppData and documents as a backup on an external hard disk. Better safe than sorry.
Use gamesavemanager or ludusavi to backup all your saves to an external hdd or ssd.

I personally use ludusavi.

As far as I can tell, it does. I'll double-check that.

Yes, did it last year when i bought a new windows 11 pc. All my games saves are on cloud, including the chrono trigger game where i maxxed out all characters to level 99.

If the game is not on cloud, you should then copy to a external jump drive or a external hdd, like for examples, i do this with photos i take of nature pictures because they take up too much room on my gaming pc.
