Gifting item bundles

A friend of mine is trying to gift me the borderlands handsome collection thats currently on sale for 2 more days. Due to use both just starting to play games on steam together it says he cant gift me a steam gift card to buy it. However the collection itself has no option to purchase it as a gift. Any ideas as to why?

Publisher decided to it being tailored bundle. Those cannot be gifted.

It's a Complete The Set type bundle and not giftable.

Ok so il just have to wait till he can gift me a digital gift card and buy it myself. thanks for the info

If they wish to go this route they can send you a digital gift card from here:
https://store.steampowered.com/digitalgiftcards/selectgiftcard

If your store currency differs from theirs, it will be automatically converted. Please note that your friend will require an external payment method. A digital gift card cannot be bought with wallet balance.

If you buy EA games too, watch out, they also use this method on game bundles alot of times too.
