Amatuer lost

Hi. Im generally rubbish at games but played half life on and off for many years. Im really stuck and simply cannot get past a certain part. I have got to chapter 1 part 4. I have reached a tunnel with energy balls flying at me from the left. I simply cant get through as I havent enough life or suit energy to protect me. What else can I do.
