difference between network usage and download speed
Steam network usage is roughly 6,5 Mbits/s, download speed varies between 600 and 800 KB/s.

Is this a normal behavior?
Is the download speed linked to the disk usage? My disk is a SSD Samsung 860 Evo, I think the problem (if there is one) comes from something else.
Any ideas?

To more fully explain what ReBoot is saying Steam shows its download figures in bytes each of which is 8 bits.

For a simple shorthand in display B=bytes and b=bits but a lot of ISPs and speed checkers/trackers like to use bits because the bigger numbers look more impressive and we often see threads questioning the gap like this from those confused first learning about the two.

^ this

1 Mbps = 0.125 MB/s (125kb/s)
6.7Mbps = 0.835MB/s (835KB/s)

Mbps = mbit/s = mega bits per second
MB/s = mega bytes per second (or Kilo Bytes)
1 byte = 8 bits
A little slow.. but seems allright.

Wow! Asking dumb questions sure is embarassing...
Still, until March, download speed was roughly 5MB/s. Guess I'll ask my ISP.
Anyway, thank you everyone !

Nah, it isn't at all. It's good - you learned something and nobody laughed at you :)

For the future too you WILL get some loss too as it isn't just your internet speed that governs downloads. As STeam games are downloaded compressed and encrypted it's actually a combination of your net speed, CPU, RAM, hard, I/O and more.

You can see this by looking at the graph on the downloads page and by monitor system resources under Task Manager.

Often you will see some or one of those resources being hit heavily at any time. That's what's capping it.
