How much does it cost to add cloud support to a game?
How much would the devs have to pay to add steam cloud support to their game?
Can the community get a game cloud supported too?

Steamworks itself is free. But its up to the developer to add such functionality by using the Steamworks API into their game

It cost them nothing more then the work to implant it into the game

So you say cloud support is free? Steam offers free server space for any dev? I can hardly believe that :/

The Dev put there games on Steam... and the cloud is not given to the Dev but for the users that play the game and that buy it

Also mind you, there appears to be a cloud save size limit for different games. A single save for the original Deus Ex when you are roughly half-way through the game is close to 200MBs, many games that use this appear to use around or more 100 MBs.

So it really is free meaning it costs the devs nothing. Wow.

Implementing Steamworks and all the benefits is certainly free:

Steam might charge extra for certain additions, Cloud Save is free, but I am sure up to a point and within reason.

well not really all that true... while your game is not Free To Play Valve dose take some % of your profit... so you that is a way to pay for it...
And they give more then just Cloud space.. they also give you a forum a place to show art-work of the game a way to connect the user
A store page

SteamCloud limitations are

1GB per-user per-game
100MB per-file limit

Which is fair, I guess. Sice they "ship and deliver" your games to a huge community and thus open a big market for you as a dev.

True but it's not really different than shipping on any other digital store. The standard for digital stores is 30% (Humble store is the only exception taking sub-10% from their widget). So if you sell a game on Amazon, or GMG, or Steam, each platform takes 30%. So the fact that Stea mtakes 30% is somewhat moot since 'someone' is taking that somewhere.

"In theory" if you sold 0 copies on steam directly, but used Steamworks, steam would not actually re-coup any costs associated with your usage of the infrastructure.

Do you have a source for the per file size limit?
