- uninstalling avast antivirus
- ensuring full permissions were allowed for editing of the /csgo directory
- deleting the appcache folder in program files/steam
- running steam as administrator and ..
- reinstalling the game after all of the above
i have a feeling there may have been some interference on the part of the anti-virus here so if you have an anti-virus, specifically avast, try uninstalling that for the duration of the game update and then reinstalling it afterwards if it fixes the problem.
i fixed it
Hope this helps!
Windows Memory Diagnostic tool worked fine for me, I run Windows 8.1 64-bit. I've heard that http://www.memtest86.com/ works well for other OS.
To resolve this issue you'll need to be patient but I'm sure it will work - none of the other fixes worked for me.
I'm not sure which part of this works but there's no harm in doing both:
1) Download the game until it fails or pauses (corrupt update file/corrupt download/or simply stops)
2) Goto Steam -> Settings -> Downloads -> Download Region
Change the Download region to something else (anything just a new location/new server)
3) Force steam to continue downloading/installing/updating by either attempting to launch the game (this should bring up the 'Ready to launch in xxxx' timer) --- Or right click on the game you're having issues with and select Manage download and click the Resume/Update/Queue or whatever to force it along.
From now on each time Steam fails to update/install change the download region and reforce steam to download/install/update as above eventually it will complete and continue as normal.
Goodluck
- Disconnect your pc from the wireless network.
- Plug in the lan cable.
- Let it update bruv or sis.
I hope this helped =P
I tried nearly everything. Maybe changing the folder from read-only could help, but i cant uncheck the box, i mean i can do it, but when i open the little window again it says "read only". I feel like i've threw my money out of the window.
Download the game and if get error of corrupted files, do this:
1. Go to your downloading folder (Steam / SteamApps / Downloading)
2. open the folder called 730
3. folder directx_installer - execute the setup. (it's gonna take a while)
4. Copy the content of folder 730 and paste to Steam / SteamApps / Common / Counter Strike Global Offensive folder (if not have this folder with this name, create a new one)
4. Your installation of directx must be already be done at this point, so you can now start your game from steam normally, directx will install again, wait.
5. If you want to, restart your computer before start the game.
I grab this info from users on this and others topics and mixed.
