It sounds like the mic is indeed working and only the games can't pick anything up so to me it's either Windows (slim chance if voice chat is working) or the client misconfiguring the mic.
I get it from time to time on Windows 10 as I use loads of different audio systems.
Windows 10 (and 11 afaik) has this issue where if you have more than one audio device it gets confused as to which one to switch to. So it can sometimes manifest as no sound in games or other weirdness. For me it usually happens that I'll get no sound in game (on certain games) or it'll play back on the wrong device.
To try and fix this, go to Windows settings, and choose audio. On that page, click the text that lists all audio devices and you should them listed. Disable ALL except the one you want to use (the headset).
