verify integrity of game cache - why is it downloading the entire game??

so i always use the "verify integrity of game cache" feature after i download a game to make sure i'm not missing any files. but now all of a sudden when i do this 100% of the entire game starts re downloading from scratch instead of just verifying the cache.

does anyone know how to fix this? it's REALLY annoying.

this is happening on far cry: blood dragon and also sleeping dogs definitive edition. i'm too scared to try even bother trying it with any other game because the files can take up to 5 hours to download if it's a big game.

help!

Are you trying to verify the files BEFORE you actually try to play the game ?

no. i download the game (any game). then i play it for awhile to make sure it is working and then quit the game and check the files just to make sure they're all 100% and the game starts re downloading.

it's the most annoying thing ever.

ok so i tried it and it doesn't fix the problem.

i think it's far cry 3: blood dragon and sleeping dogs: definitive edition and not steam itself.

i tried verify the cache on blood dragon and it said 50 files were missing and re downloaded the entire game. but i had played the game for 2 hours or so last night and the game seemed fine and probably wasn't missing any files. it has done this 4 - 5 times now

BUT

i verified the cache integrity of CIV III. and the files checked out 100% and it didn't re download the entire game.

so i guess the blood dragon and sleeping dogs games themselves have a problem working with steam cache verify system and the problem is not steam.

Have you searched the game forums for those specific games to see if you can find others with the same or similar porblem ? That is strange if it is just those two games....

The only other suggestion I can give is to check for programs that may be causing this, but that may not be very helpful.

You have not seen any disk write errors with any games lately have you ?

i have checked the forums for the other games and no one answers so IDK if anyone has the same problem with those games

i believe it is the games far cry 3: blood dragon and sleeping dogs: definitive edition that is the problem and it's not steam. because the verify game cache works perfectly for some games but never for these 2 games. i just checked CIV III, FTL, pac man championship edition dx+ and kingdom rush (yes i have that game on pc don't laugh LOL) all 3 games verify cache integrity checks 100% perfect and doesn't re download, but FC3:BD and SD: DE verify cache integrity does not work and forces a 100% re download because steam thinks the files are missing when i use verify cache.

Same problem here with Far Cry 3 - Blood Dragon. And I tried it with two different computers.
