Steam Guard

So I had to make this account because steam guard is a piece of ♥♥♥♥ and locked me out of my account so i have no access to my old account that had tons of games and items, if you want to look at it the name of the profile is the same as this profile but without the all of the Xs and the profile pic is a hot dog, very dissapointed. Also, steam support is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because i emailed them the day this happened, July 17th, and they still haven't emailed me back which is pretty ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥..

What do you mean by posting that Steam Guard caused this ? What happened ? Please explain what you need help with.

Loosing access to or forgetting the email address on your account is what's causing this.

Yeah well when I was setting up Steam Guard after I put in a code it sent my phone, my app crashed and when I opened it up again it asked for some regenerating code and I didn't know what that was so I went to retreive my account it asked for some code that started with R that I didn't have so it was purely steam/steam guard that locked me out of my account.

You're supposed to write down the recovery code the mobile app shows you wne you complete the registration

never got a recovery code

When setting up the mobile authenticator, there's a screen where it says to write down the recovery code. You didn't get that?

Well, when you get your account back, you might want to stick with email based Steam Guard. The issue you're facing actually proves that Steam Guard is effective.

not really because steam guard took a sh*t on me and never gave me any codes

You don't need the recovery code if you never loose your device or reinstall the Steam app.

Also, I believe there is a way to generate a recovery code after the fact anyway, even if you don't "see" it during the setup process. Might want to look into that option next time.

no i didn't lose my device or reinstall the steam app, whenever i open my steam app there's just a steam guard logo on the bottom half of my screen and when i go to sign in it asks for a regenerating code i don't have, and when i went to retreive my code, it asks for a recovery code that starts with the letter R but i never got one

ok, well something went wrong in the setup process. No sense in further arguing what did or didn't and should or shouldn't have happened. If you say SG took a dump, then so be it.

Not sure if it will help according to the good Matt's edit above in post number 10 but I found this thread about it and some say they got around it, so please excuse me if it does not help on this...
