Disk Write Error to External HDD for Games with Autorun.inf

I got a new external hdd and am moving my library over. So far I have only had issues with 3 games: Borderlands, Star Wars Republic Commandos and Red Faction.

If I move the game files maually from my internal drive, everything moves over except an "autorun.inf". I can move the file anywhere on my internal drive but not to the external drive.

If I download the game to the external drive I get a "disk write error". When I check the content log, it turns out to be because of that same file.

The games work on the internal drive fine, but I am hoping to put them on the external to keep space open for my work on the internal. I also had an external drive before where I had all these games and they worked fine (until the drive failed, hence the new one).

I can change the name of the autorun.inf then move it and change the name back, but when Steam discovers the game, again, disk write error.

I have full permissions for all drives, but I could be missing something.

I also have Trend Micro internet security. I read McAfee sometimes blocks autorun.inf from copying or being downloaded, but I have never had issues with Trend Micro nor have found a similar setting.

If anyone has any useful suggestions, please let me know. Thank you very much.

Ha! Turns out it IS my anti-virus. It prevents Autorun.inf files read and write permissions on USB storage devices such as flash/SSD/HDD. Turned it off, games downloaded.

If you have the "Write Error", just turn off Trend Micro while downloading the affected game. This has only happened a few times for me and I have almost 600 Steam games. Once the game is downloaded and installed you can turn your anti virus back on. You can probably turn on Windows defender while downloading to minimize vulnerability, assuming it doesn't cause an issue too. Let me know if there is any other issues.

Also, put the Steam folder and the any Steam Library folders on the exceptions list in Trend Micro. I have had to put a few programs on there, even ones that where on my PC before I got Trend Micro and had no issues with until one random day Trend Micro desides "Oh that could be a threat!".
