hmm
well it seems to only be doing it when steam is running and downloading games. i exit steam, and it doesn't show in task manager that it is running anymore. but the memory usage still stays, the only way to fix it, is to restart my PC.
like i said, i also contacted microsoft support about the issue and posted it on their feedback app. i know its only been about 2 days and i don't expect an update in the next 15 minutes here, but it is quite annoying lol.
it's currently at 40% and rising lol.
ya i know restarting flushes the memory. well, its good to know, cause now i can provide more feedback towards my support ticket with Windows. hopefully they can fix this so other users don't experience this issue as well. wether it be Steam, or Windows or whatever else.
this must mean its another service? conflicting with steam? or the download process or whatever?
im going to check on each service one by one, restart and test this out. see which one starts to create a higher memory usage while using steam and downloading games.
once i find the culprit, i will post here what it is, so maybe one of the companies can come out with a fix.
weird... lol
funny, how its not doing it anymore, it was spiking up to 60% memory usage, it never did that, ever. even on Windows 7, or 8.1
this issue is Fixed. no need to keep posting nonsense.
Again people get so obsessed with memory usage
Here's a tip. the OS knows better than you how to handle memory. If its allocating 60% of your memory, there's a reason. Windows update can suck up tons of memory just trying to do its thing if you havent run the update in a while.
the only thing you're saying is that 'my system is using memory' and then you call that 'high usage'.
Again % memory usage is basically a worthless metric. You're not even saying WHAT is taking up memory and how much it is. If you're going to accuse me of 'nonsense' then you might wnat to look at your OP because that post is just full of nonsense already since it basically contains zero useful information.
you didn't read this whole thread.
I SAID IT WAS STEAM USING UP THE MEMORY WHILE DOWNLOADING GAMES (SINCE THATS WHEN IT WAS ONLY OCCURING)
so here's a tip, learn to read a whole thread before posting. using up 60% of ram is not normal and if it was, then how come its fixed now? seriously, get out of my thread.
^
See, at least he knows how to read a thread.
8gb 90%+ usage with only chrome running :|
what microsoft made me do, was this
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135
after i did that, and re-enabled all non microsoft services. it seemed to have fixed the problem. try it.
i enabled the services one by one, to see if it was a certain service.
Start - All Apps - Contact Support
Start - All Apps - Windows Feedback
When I finally got control back, I exited steam and found that memory was NOT released .. nor did Windows release it like it should have... I had to initiate a complete reboot to reclaim all the memory..
It may be due to hardware configs hitting something in Windows 10 just right or some function in Steam bringing it forth but it is there... and it will most likely stay there until Microsoft gets lucky and finds the cause because as random as it is, it will not be easy...
try that out ^
^ you can also try that out
another thing that seem to fix it was reinstalling Windows 10. good luck man, hope you figure it out.
