Authorized Resellers
I was browsing around and came across {LINK REMOVED} and it has 10 random steam keys for 2.70. For 2.70 it seems worth a try. Upon futher inquiry it seems there could be some legitamacy questions , but i cannot find an official list of authorized resellers. Could this jeapardize my precious steam account?

I don't know if it can harm you but I'm sure that I'm not going to buy a steam game out of steam never.
If you want a good price wait for steam sales.

There is not official list, but if you keep to big named and establisher retailers, you should be safe.

A good way to see if its a good site, is by seeing if Steam forums censor the name of that site. So the site you wanted to buy from is not recommended. People have lost games from that site a lot.

Amazon, Bundle Stars, GamersGate, Gamesplanet, GMG, Humble Bundle, Indie Gala.

Of course your best bet is Steam itself....during a sale.

I have feeling what a site you listed and no, don't buy from them. How could be they even legit when they openly ask their customers to violate the Steam ToS by using a VPN to activate keys?

Thanks for replying!, well for $ 2.70 im most likely will give it a shot, it seems for the most part legit, but its a market place with sellers so certianly their is some bad apples. as far as i can see a vpn is not required as the key is activated through steam. Now losing a game i bought on there because of a bad seller, well thats my risk. I REALLY dont want to my put steam account at ANY risk, but i cannot find any info to tell if i would be!!!! none!! EXCEPT that steam blocks the name!! which does not tell me anything because websites are constantly blocking info. so i dont really care about the site but:xenon:, Does anyone know if i use it , will i violate steams t.o.s.??? (wish i put it that way in the first place!!) :happy_creep:

So, you are willing to buy possibly stolen goods which in many countries is an illegal act?

You can easily find cheap games from legitimate resellers through http://www.isthereanydeal.com

The site you have mentioned is notorious for selling stolen, fraudulently obtained and region-locked keys. They are blacklisted by many developers/publishers and the likes of Valve and other major companies have been revoking keys in their droves. You wont be penalised for buying products from them but if your keys are revoked; you will lose your game and your money so it's not worth it.

The likes of Bundlestars offer really cheap bundles and are legit. HumbleBundle and Greenmangaming are also excellent legit alternatives.

The main difference is, isthereanydeal.com only lists authorized resellers.

This - if it seems too good to be true then it's highly likely your keys will just be revoked at some point. Stick to sites like Amazon, Gamersgate etc. If you don't want to jeopardize your account/games, then don't buy from shady, unauthorized re-sellers - simple.

thanks very much satoru, some tangability. now cathulhu, you state that isthereanydeal.com only lists "authorized resellers". HOW to VERIFY this? are we talking authorized through the publisher, or through steam? upon reading satoru's links ill probably stay away from {LINK REMOVED}. but my question is still not answered. anybody can tell me hey trust this one not that one(bias or not). My main Concern is putting my steam account in jeopardy, using any of these services. so are there " authorized resellers " ? if so how to verify? :DE_MyEyes:

Speaking from personal experience, I have made plenty of purchases from Gamersgate, Amazon, Bundle Stars and Humble Bundle (all sell/have sold games/bundles with Steam keys), and have never had any problems, have had any keys revoked or anything like that.

Have a look at your post - you'll notice that the site you have mentioned is filtered by Valve. This is the clearest indication that the site is not authorised. Steam doesn't need to draw any other attention or advertisement to sites like these - they filter them and that's it. This alone is more than enough along with all the negative publicity the site has generated from AAA publishers and other developers. Over £1,000,000 worth of keys were revoked by only February and the amount of pubs/devs that now blacklist the site; it wouldn't surprise me if there are over 25,000 keys a month being revoked.

Not necessarily. That's just what Valve thinks.

When the big "Sniper Elite III" key issue sparked up, they posted a list of sites they sell keys to and are legitimate places to buy their game...... Items on that list were at the time censored by Valve.

So there will be times when publishers willingly and clearly sell legitimate keys to a site that Valve deems to be non trustworthy.
