Forum Font Size
Hello all i'm suffering here.

I am having a lot of issues reading the tiny fonts that make up the forums, is there any way to make the forums font bigger so it is readable, it literally only takes about a quarter of my screen...

My screen size is 1920x1080 but the forums are so tiny its damaging my eyes.. any help appreciated.

See how much screen is wasted, and how tiny it is?

Thanks.

I share your discomfort. It's strange to think that we're actually disadvantaged by having high resolution monitors and that everything is harder to read because of it.

Valve haven't offered any solution to this problem, despite the fact that it really is a result of their software's design. There are third party alternatives offered by some kind users such as Raydell. His skins for both browser and client are very popular as far as I can tell, and have a good reputation for being reliable. I'm told you can use them to enlarge font sizes etc.

To be honest I don't know as I went the stubborn route, hoping to wait it out till Valve fix it.(Not sure if that's smart or not.)

If you scroll to post #40 on the same thread that I linked above you'll see where Raydell assures me that text size can be enlarged through the skins. I suggest you contact him throught the comments in his profile. He seems very friendly and happy to help anyone who asks.

You can read them in your browser and use ctrl + scroll to make the size bigger. It works for me.

Actually, yes, this is the simplest solution of all, just a shame you can't do it in the client. Google Steam discussions....not steam forums as that goes to the old forums.

Fonts are okay. It depends on your vision.

My vision isn't what it used to be, but i don't want to make it any worse, and this forum is tiny, its amazing steam is so backward for such a simple application.

Its not really much of backwards as much as its simply something they likely did not think abut when they made it, back in the day :D:
But its Valve, they work on Valve Time so it may come, but don't hold your breath on it

The higher your resolution is, the smaller the fonts become. I thought it was normal for software to adjust in size to suit different resolutions, or at least to be manually adjustable. At 1920 by 1080 letters are smaller than in most books and newspapers. I think also that most people don't get as close to their monitors as we do to books and newspapers, and that books aren't electrically backlit and they usually don't have white text on a glare producing blue background. These things add together to make a difficult reading experience, potentially damaging to our sight.

In IE, one can change the magnification percentage in the bottom right corner.
