Games don't even launch since today's patch.
For example Dark Souls and Capsized. Issue began since PC reboot... I thought this may be normal, but even after Capsized reinstal nothing had happend.

Do you use X-Fire. I do and it has caused me similar problems today.
Same thing for me apparently.
Switched it off, games work. Steam hates Xfire?

I've been unable to play TF2, L4D2,DOD or Serious Sam all day, just crashes back to Steam Homepage. I've tried veryifying, re-starting & just tried disabling X-Fire none of which have worked.
Come on Steam get it sorted !

Indeed.
This is actually a combo factor, but it's an issue on Steam's side. The issue only happens in the old version of Xfire where XIG hooking was not updated for the new input system. A number of games were not updated to use the new input system because of various problems in the old client, but the new client is always using the new input system & doesn't have this problem.

The reason why this is happening actually isn't our fault, it's a matter of Steam blocking XIG hooking through the old input system. As soon as Steam detects an old input system XIG hook, the game is immediately shut down without so much as an error to explain why. So if you want to complain to somebody about games shutting down with the use of the old version of Xfire, complain to Steam about it.

Wow, dude. Exhaustive answer. Thanks for the detsils.

I've installed the new version of xfife, and I think it's fine.
I dont have x fire and stil dont open, actually how i check if i have x fire
If you don't know if you have it or not, you probably don't. Best way to find out would be to open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Delete & look for xfire.exe or xfire64.exe. Although it might be possible that some other program you are using with in-game overlays may also be hooking through the same method the old version of Xfire does. If you are using any other in-game interfaces or recording software, try shutting them off (Steam Overlay excluded).
