Steam taskbar icon has been partially green for years.
Where does the taskbar icon get its download progress information? For the last year or two the icon has been displaying as if there is a paused or incomplete download, but going through all the tabs (Downloads, Tools, Media, Software, Games) doesn't show anything that is pending. It's been going on for over two years now and I ingored it, but I'm feeling plucky today and want to fix it.

Where's it getting the progress info? I've reinstalled my OS and deleted all of my games to see if that would fix it, but no luck.

wow that is a odd one...

Only thing i can think of.. did you try to refresh Steam files?
How to refresh Steam files: (read all before doing it)
1. Go to were Steam is installed
2. Delete every thing except (Do not Delete these next files and folder)
  • steamapps [Folder] (were the games are at)
  • userdata [Folder] (Some saves and other stuff)
  • skins [Folder] (your Skins no need to lose them for these)
  • Steam.exe [app] (main Steam file needed for later_

The active Steam.exe from the folder it will download and install Steam your games need to be fine and steam will be reinstalled on the basic level
(if something is unclear ask)

Yeah, that happened when I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1. I was really surprised it was still there, but I ignored it until today.

Yeah, like I said, my whole Steam folder was refreshed when I upgraded my OS (I deleted the entire steam folder just to be sure). Thanks for the suggestion though.
