What games might I run with my i7 4790k integrated graphics?
I am waiting for my GPU to be shipped to me, so while I am waiting I thought I might use my integrated graphics, but I have no idea how they actually measure up to dedicated GPUs. What kind of games might I be able to play with them? Also I have 16gb RAM.

Most should work at low-mid settings

I guess no real limits then. Thanks!

They are crap, but can still run most games that aren't too demanding. If anything, a majority of games will run, but u'd have to lower all the visual quality quite a bit to compensate for such low performance/FPS. Some games will simply refuse to run on that GPU though. But again it should hold u over for now til your dedicated GPU comes in the mail.

And update the Intel Chipset INF and HD Graphics Drivers while you're at it.

No problem. I said that based on a quick scan of your library(not sure about the strategy games) and assuming 30 fps isn't a deal breaker for you. You may have trouble with some but starting a game on your integrated and moving up to the dedicated will make you really appreciate it (assuming the games aren't too old or very low resource requirements)

I have not played for a long time, did not own a pc for about a 1/2 a year, so 30 will do just fine for me.

DoTA 2 comes to mind as one of the most popular games on Steam. It's free.
Robocraft is another free one that is fairly popular and should run.
Mount & Blade and Warband should both run.
Anything that worked on a PS3 or XB360 should probably run at some level with 20+ FPS.

Remember you can turn settings all the way down to lowest if you need to and some games may let you get away with medium or even high. Reducing resolution may also help.

This has nothing to do with how PC games are going to run on such a GPU.
That would be like saying that an Intel HD GPU is ok for games like BF3 or 4; which it won't be.

Just try games from your current Library and see how they do; or wait til your GPU arrives.
Overall, having latest drivers would help too.

Here's BF4 multiplayer on Intel HD 4600. It isn't great but it does play.

A note to the OP, the guy in the video mentions that he overclocks the HD 4600 to 1.65 Ghz for 900p or 1080p. I recommend not to do this unless you got a good custom CPU cooler and not even then as it voids CPU warranty. Just play at 720p at stock speeds instead. The first two runs are at stock clocks and teh next two are overclocked at 1.65 Ghz on the graphics.

Here's a few more:

Witcher 3

Witcher 3 with overclocked iGPU to 1.6 GHz (again not recommended)

i know im reviving a dead topic, however i asked the same question and i think its important to note that Rove's examples are wrong because what op asked for are games that would work on integrated Graphics, and as you can clearly see videos he had posted are with an external Intel GPU which is totally more powerful than integrated i7 graphics

Intel makes external dedicated gpu's? I didn't think they made dedicated ones let alone external ones.

I've seen external ones (primarily for people with notebooks) before but not one by Intel. got any good links? how do they compare to Nvidia and AMD gpu's? Were they around early to mid 2015 because I am having trouble finding which video Rove posted last year is using one?

This vid is pretty cool.

Admitedly, I have not look much further that Intel's internal GPU's, but I have read some pretty positive reviews on the internal ones. They are supposed to be pretty good. Sorry I don't know more, my friend.

Yeah I've actually seen that but that seems to be an un-released or at least un-named mobile gpu in the first part that could possibly be Intel, then an amd gpu in the latter. I can't find an actually released intel gpu anywhere though let alone one from prior to June of last year like Kurwastyle was claiming Rove was linking to.

@CharlestONE

I am really sorry about that, then if you have indeed seen the info given already. Maybe Rove did not unsub from this thread and when he is done gaming, he will reply and clarify. I know I was reading up on their internal ones and they seem to get some pretty good reviews, in fact.

I knida like the look of them, too. LOL
