This seems to be a server issue. We have to wait.
No I can't, I type in my username and password click the login button and I get this tiny window with retry or cancel, no other options. Pretty sure this is on Steam's end though so I will just wait it out.
No you are totally correct, at first I had that option but then after reinstalling some of the steam files I was met with this new window at the login screen that said steam was having trouble with their servers and I was not given the option to go into offline mode.
edit: And the reason I cannot login is not due to a missing file or else my other accounts would not be working either
Hopefully this nonsense gets fixed soon...
also, there is a box under the steam guard settings that "does not store account credentials on this computer"...if you have that checked, it disables offline mode as the warning under the box selection says....just for your information if you don't know...
- uninstalling steam and reinstalling it
- deleting .blob , except there are no .blob files
- entering a random password, then entering my real password
- deleting all files expect 'steam' and file 'steamapps' only for steam to update with all files again
- disabling Mcafee firewall
- disabling windows firewall
- allowing steam app to 'communicate' through firewall
And yet, NONE of them worked. I just purchased a brand new Lenovo 2015 gaming platform laptop, and the first thing after the general set up I did was downloaded steam. and I keep getting the same message : steam is having trouble connecting with steam servers.
I have checked the servers, they are just fine. I know my password because I am-if it's not obvious enough- online through the website.
Every fix video and thread i have read gave basically these options and none of them worked. it's April 2015, so why isn't steam working by now.
Please let me know what I can do to fix this.
Thank You
