Unable to Download Games - HELP
Ok, I don't know what the hell is wrong.

I bought Vermintide last night and the game loaded fine until 20.5GB/20.7GB completed. At that point, the 2Mbps Download Speed just dropped to 0 and the Download stopped.

After restarting Steam several times, the 20.7GB download started from scratch (4 hours of waiting wasted!).

Again, after downloading fine for a few minutes, the speed goes 0 bytes immediately like its completely dead, and stays there.

I reinstalled Steam before and restarted the Download of the game. AGAIN, after a few minutes of downloading fine, the speed goes from 1Mbps to 0bytes IMMEDIATELY and that's it. It won't download the game.

WTF IS WRONG with Steam again?

EDIT: Every time I change DL Region, the speed is very good for several minutes, but afterwards it either hits 0 and stops, or goes insanely slow.

I always get insanely fast download speeds. Previous Steam downloads were also fine.

Well it does not seem to be fine here in this case, does it ? If you don't have full control over the network, how can you know if the bandwidth is not totally saturated right now from everyone else using the network in your apartment ?

Because I downloaded a 16GB game from another source to test it, and it finished in 2 hours. I can download with 3 and 4 Mbps so the problem is Steam related.

Also, a speed test online shows that my speed here is up-to-date. Heck, I have been downloading from Steam so fast while the roomates where on Skype and playing WoW. Trust me. It's not an issue from the router here, it can handle everything (hence we are paying for it so much).

It may seem so in this case, but that is not always the way it is. It could be that this game you are trying to download is being downloaded by many others now also. You could be right, and the network right now is just busy with traffic.

The only suggstion I can give here for you to test this theory is for you to boot your PC into safe mode WITH networking, and try the downlaod again after you log in with Steam. That can maybe show if it is Steam related or another problem affecting it.

It's not an issue from the router here,

I have seen many cases where a router was not a problem before and something updates or changes and then the router bypass was the fix in the end. Trust me, I am being serious here.

Will try it, though I am afraid if I quit Steam right now the DL will start from scratch, and there is NO way I am waiting another 6 hours for it to finish. Also, this is happening 2 days now so is the network really busy with traffic ALL this time?

Right now the DL continues once in a while and then flatlines again. So I think I'll wait for it to finish that way and see how it goes before I try something else.
I've also been sat for the passed 6 hours tring to download black ops 3.

I've tried litterally every single fix i could find, multiple times

Didn't that game just come out ? Probably because everyone else is trying to download it also right now ???

The first suggestion here is to always bypass the router when troubleshooting network connectivity issues.

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1456-EUDN-2493

"Before trying anything else:"

"Try bypassing your router by connecting your computer directly to your modem.

If the issue disappears after bypassing your router, please refer to the Using a Router with Steam topic for instructions on configuring your router."

It does not matter what has happened before. I see this all the time. What works yesterday may not work today.

People smoke cigarettes for years with no problems either and one day they get lung cancer.

i cant update any of my other games, the downloads are spiked. my connection is fine otherwise. the error is:

INVALID DEPOT CONFIG

i've honestly tried everything. i cant even find a way to email steam and just ask them for help, i just get redirectied to self help that doesnt help. I'm not even really that bad with fixing stuff like this, but i've been on with this for almost 7 hours now.
@Fiftyonred

Please do not hijack this thread. If you need help, maybe you should make your own thread. I don't personally know if your issue is the same as the OP of this thread, from what you just posted here above.

Well, the game has been out for many days now (month?).

I am currently in Safe Mode and letting the DL continue cause for some Reason Steam ended up using 99% of my PC's memory everytime it flatlined and it took ages.

@Fiftyonred
Also, when I very first started this game's download, I received the Invalid Depot Config error. After restarting Steam 1-2 times I managed to get past the error and it started downloading, so it may be connected somehow.

So do you see any improvement in safe mode WITH networking ? The fact that you are seeing that much memory being used can maybe point to other problems with your PC.

You sound like a Steam rep...

No, my PC is brand new and works PERFECTLY fine 99.9% of the time.
The Memory issue happened when Steam flatlined during the download, like it was trying to install something(?) Everything wrong so far revolves around Steam - so let's not go there and blame everyone else but Steam.

It finished in Safe Mode though it would have finished in normal Windows Mode as well if I have let it. Gonna reboot in normal now and see if I can launch the game.

Thanks!

EDIT: Verifying game's data before I go into normal just in case.

Maybe you are right, but we see users here all the time that blame Steam when in the end, it was their PC that was the problem, or their network, hardware, etc. Do a search, as you don't have to take my word for it. See it all the time.
