Banned from a steam community. Reason: "nah"
I have been banned from a steam community with the reason given for the ban as "nah".

Are moderators allowed to ban people for no reason? From what I can gather from reading the guidelines I broke no rules so I actually want to know what reason I was banned for. I'm happy to take the hit if I actually broke a rule...

I've contacted Steam support a couple of days ago and am waiting for a response. I've had a Steam account for 17 years and this is the first time I've ever had a comment removed and a steam community ban, so I was very surprised there was no valid reason given. (For the record this is an alternate account I created to play porn games that I want to hide from my main account friend list so it doesn't show the insane amount of games I own)

Here's a shot of the ban notification:

I'm also curious to know what the rules are for moderators?

Edit:

Thanks everyone for the feedback. TIL: I'm a bit of a jerk sometimes it seems, under the delusion I was making some sort of valid point/funny joke.

Game hubs are moderated by the developers and those who are given the powers by the mods. Developers make their own rules and do not need to provide any reason, not do they need one. Support will not overturn a community ban imposed by community mods.
I'm assuming it's the Operation Lovecraft community ban you have. Those are MOSTLY controlled by the developers and their appointed moderators and not typically handled by the general paid moderators so punishment explanations/messages are probably going to be kind of just meh.
Damn, so moderators can do whatever they want?

Yes I've seen many many comments removed and threads locked in that community. It seems as though they are basically using the beta as marketing (edit: and a way to get new Patreon subscribers), so delete almost all negative feedback from what I can tell.

See the box where you can add a comment to the ban notice? That's where you discuss it. Not here.

Someone who puts "nah" as a reason for a ban is not interested in a discussion.

Game hub moderators basically can. They aren't appointed by Valve, and are left to run their forums as they see fit. Hopefully Steam Support will overturn your community ban, although I wouldn't hold my breath.
To be honest I don't really care whether I get the ban overturned at this point. It's interesting to know that Steam communities don't really have overarching rules for moderators though.

Yes, but there’s usually training that goes into this

Pot meets kettle. Reading the post which got you banned (as well as your post history), you don't really need any further explanation for the ban. You've asked for trouble, you got some.

If it's an official mod they can't and won't Do that. If it's a self-appointed game hub mod, Well those are usually fat nerds covered in cheeto dust, so you're screwed

Click at your screenshot and read the quoted message from yourself. I really can't explain to you how exactly that's you asking for trouble. It's like explaing how exactly the square root of 4 is 2, it's blatantly obvious.

So being cheeky is cause for being banned?

If you're not able to see/understand what was wrong with the message that got you banned, then prepare for more bans in the future.
