I don't know either, but I sure wish it existed.
Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't aware there was another way of watching videos than the steam browser.
If you use the steam overlay to browse stuff while being ingame, tabbing and pasting into another browser is not an option.
On the other hand, I've never had a crash browsing with Firefox while playing a Steam game, AND opening multiple tabs is a huge advantage.
Because if they add a feature, it doesn't matter how often you use it, you should at least have that OPTION to use it.
This is why they added the videos tab in the community hub, so people can quickly click on a video for a game, so they can perhaps find out more about the game in case they want to buy it.
If I wanted to use my browser instead, I would just use youtube and search from there rather than copy and paste a link from the steam client to my browser.
So all they need to do is either fix the client, or remove the video option altogether.
Since Valve are now one of the laziest and greediest companies in gaming (although you could barely call them a gaming company at this point), they have done (and will do) neither.
So they are going to just continue pretending to not know about it.
It's called living in denial.
All they gotta do in this case is just don't read this pesky thread.
Problem solved.
At the very least we can learn a very valuable lesson here and that is don't concentrate too much on making more and more money because you are most likely going to become extremely lazy and greedy under its corrupting influence.
Community, Market, Profile, etc.
Use the Client for things like Game Library, Streaming, Friends.
IDK why people try to use Steam Client like a web-browser. You realize how that even sounds? Steam can only handle one page at time really; cause even though u can open a link into a 2nd window, u can navigate with that via Address Bar.
Meanwhile you could just use a browser, with Extensions for protections (another reason to never use Steam's browser) and have an many tabs open as you want.
But again you have zero protection via Steam's Web Browser; period.
Using it for anything Steam is fine; but it should never be used for anything outside of Valves/Steams webpages.
As it is now, videos on Steam are crash baits - you click and Steam crashes.
But anything coming from YouTube; it just doesn't work right within Steam Client from what I've been seeing. So I just avoid doing that in the Client.
Yeah, happens for me too. It always opens new windows twice and the new ones don't react anymore. The only way to make them work again is usually resizing if possible and if not closing and reopening overlay and then resizing (which then usually works).
EDIT: I've turned off directwrite, will report back if it changes anything.
