I am only suggesting exactly what is already on the support page. And there are many in the VAC forum that are troubleshooting issues with the VAC system and they do not even have an antivirus program installed at all. As long as users do not go surfing the net and downloading questionable stuff, it is not a big deal.
Put things in exceptions lists of antivirus.
Thats the recommended thing to do

Click my first link in my post, please Muppet. I already suggested for OP to do that after his post randomly placed in that other thread. I suggested for him to make exceptions first, but it says all that on the support page anyway. Thank you for your comment though.

The easy way around having programs that can inteferre with Steam is to start by not have any of them from that list linked. There may be others, as the list is a bit old and not been updated for some time, it seems. Personally, I use Avira antivirus with no problems.

Until you are sure the antivirus is not causing problems, you can quite possibly be going in circles. Try to make exceptions, but sometimes the antivirus has to be fully removed. It even says so on the support page, and especially the ones with green symbols and in bold text.
