Got a steam key for Space Marines 2 but it wont let me input it cause I pre-ordered it
I pre-ordered Space Marines 2, but a friend just got me a media key to play early with them. When I tried the key it said I already have it in the library.

My question is this. If I permanently delete the game, will I then be able to use the new key?

Since you pre-ordered it, i would not. I suggest if the key your friend gave you does not work, either pass it on to another friend who does not own the game so they can play it, or give it back to friend who gave it to you in the first place, and let them give it to someone else. I ADVISE NOT PERMANENTLY DELETE THE GAME. AS this will make your pre-order lost for your account, and it will be very hard to get a refund as another person mentioned it is taking a very long time atm to get refunds for some reason on the help forum.

For example, this person refunded a game, and 2 weeks later, he is still waiting for it:

Just keep the game and give the media key to another friend or back to orignal friend.

NOTE: Sometimes media keys do not work as they have been gotten illegally. I really suggest keeping your pre-ordered version. Do you know exactly where you friend got this MEDIA KEY?

Deleting the game won't help because it doesn't actually delete it. Just does an advanced form of hide which can be reversed. It'll still tell you have it in your library.

The only way to remove it and use the key is refund it.

refund the game if you bought it within 2 weeks, then activate the key

Pre-orders can be refunded any time before release or 2 hours of playtime during Advanced Access.

REFUNDS ON TITLES PURCHASED PRIOR TO RELEASE DATE

When you purchase a title on Steam prior to the release date, the two-hour playtime limit for refunds will apply (except for beta testing), but the 14-day period for refunds will not start until the release date. For example, if you purchase a game that is in Early Access or Advanced Access, any playtime will count against the two-hour refund limit.
