Laptop doesn’t connect to Steam

My Windows laptop won’t connect to Steam, either through the app or the website. The browser can access some websites like Google and Yahoo, but not others like Steam or Malwarebytes. Other devices on the same network can connect to those sites without any issues. The laptop has worked fine in the past, but I hadn’t turned it on for a couple of months, and now this problem has started. Any ideas on what to do or who to contact?

What I have already tried:
Restart modem
Reset modem
Disable firewall
Clean boot
Clear steam cache

Operating system stats please? We are not mind readers and need to know what system your using, your intel chip, etc.

The fact the browser cannot connect to Malwarebytes could mean your system is compromised. Can you install a different browser like either firefox or opera and see if you can? If you can make sure to install malwarebytes on your pc and run it. If you have to, copy it to a usb stick and put it on the pc.
