Game is eating up 60% of memory / 15% CPU
I'm no troubleshooting expert when it comes to gaming. I'm trying to find ways to improve my gaming performance. Whenever I play games like tekken 8 and guilty gear, I experience frequent disconnects from the server. I think it's due to the games using up so much of the RAM/CPU/GPU. Tekken usually takes up 60% of my memory, 10-15% of my CPU, and 60% of my GPU (at 85 degrees C). For reference, I have an msi cyborg 15(that I just bought less than a year ago) and here are the specs:

Device name MSI
Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13620H 2.40 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable)
Device ID F92A922D-50AC-4561-AD9D-86CBD3D2FF3C
Product ID 00342-22126-71718-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

Is my laptop just not strong enough? It's weird because it only started happening a couple months after my purchase.

Side note: I'm reading about ways to disable the steam webhelper, because it's eating a good chunk of my memory. Is that a good idea?

Using any of those three resources is not a cause for networking issues.

Since you say this is a laptop, I'm assuming you're depending on WiFi connection. Try giving the router/modem a reboot.

Test a wired connection instead. Maybe there's interference introducing WiFi noise.

That's where I would start.

  1. Are you sure it is a you-problem, not a server-problem?
  2. The mentioned data does not point to a problem
  3. Check your network access: Resource Monitor: Tab:Network and perhaps your router's network usage rate, check for the sum and look for different devices
  4. Check the usage rate of the used hard disk, check the percentage, compare to network bandwidth
  5. Test the network bandwidth to a server on the internet, NOT locally
  6. Try to run the game(s) with minimums of everything. Graphics at the lowest, everything off that can be off
  7. Try other games.

it's your PC.

Disable background startups. and you probably want to reduce the amount of apps running.

That means anything running will hold up mem.

Next, you'll want to actually figure out the best GPU settings for the whole PC.

That means switching operating modes from background tasks (services) to programs.

Next you'll want to set the pc theme right. Switching off things you don't need. Go to system advanced settings and turn on custom performance.

Meaning when you switch to programs the system theme doesn't need to render it self for the program over top the desktop theme.

Next you'll want to setup the GPU.

Figure out which setting the game aspect ratio is the best for your display monitor size. then switch the desktop to that or render the game in windowed mode to a smaller size than your monitor if it won't fit .

Meaning when you run a demo stress test to find the FPS in game the display resolution should either fit the screen with the best performance possible or use windowed NOT Full SCREEN.

Extra tips would be to adjust cpu and memory tweaks in the bios which is advanced and honestly can't be figured out unless actually at the keyboard because it involves calculations that AMD and Intel have figured out and GPU manufacturers which overclocking tweaks are the best to render an image on screen.

For example. My bios can overclock very slightly the mem and cpu which allows the GPU to render a video on screen faster. I know this because i studied my GPU setting and pairing with my monitor and CPU speeds i was able to search and use online data that makes the process smoother.

all you really need to do is run defaults until you find the game display resolution the fits the monitor so that FPS refresh rate are above 60 fps or the best suited for your monitor connections. I.E. if your using a laptop this is a skipped step since it's attached monitor and gpu.

internet is actually all about secure wifi. you should need only to reset the wifi adaptor and transmitter (router wifi band) before playing to fix the network.
What you listed for usage of RAM & CPU usage tells me it's not the problem for your disconnects, so either you're too far from Wifi hub, have unstable internet, or something else interfering such as VPN/proxy, or some 3rd party app that mess with data traffic such as custom firewall you setup, or alter windows settings for it.

If you're downloading things as you're playing this can affect your connection which can cause disconnect due to high ping, or unstable connection since resources being focus on your downloading rather than your game that relying on stable network.

Another thing that can be a problem is if you happen to use a cheap crappy adapter for your internet connection, or using a wifi extender that crap can have problems to maintain connections, or if you bridge modem to a crappy router to get your wifi from that has problems.

Lastly I must point this out, today is tuseday Steam server maintenance day, so if certain games rely on Steam API for connection, you can lose connection to game for peer to peer matches, or servers that relying on Steam API to connect your profile to server, or to maintain peer to peer connection.

for the heat. it's a laptop you'll never get it below 70 degrees

further, device id and product id are a diagnostics things and rather personal don't you guys think?

a
oh your on a 13th gen intel. That chip is faulty and buggy. Get the micro code for it. Intel released them as faulty due to overclocking their settings on purpose. Then they blame the motherboard is the fault.

https://www.theverge.com/24216305/intel-13th-14th-gen-raptor-lake-cpu-crash-news-updates-patches-fixes-motherboards

DO NOT PLAY ANY GAMES until you update the bios and set the voltage a bit lower. Not doing this will damage your HARDWARE PERMANENTLY. If your getting the OUT OF MEMORY error, you pc is already damaged hardware and do a RMA to intel for the chip. The micro code is a fix for the issue, and will not fix the hardware if already damamged, that is why it is advised to install the micro code and change the voltage in the bios to lower.

See more on this video about it:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vo1xS4lRio

The over usage of your cpu usage could be because of this issue can cause that issue too, but some games can do that too. Best to do the micro code update and the bios downgrade of the voltage.
