*closed* Arma 3 randomly banned from a King of the Hill server
I guess the server I was attemping to join might have done an IP range ban (as explained by ReBoot). Never heard of them before but I guess Arma 3 does them...

If the game uses IP bans, then you just have to change your IP.

But what will happen to other servers if I change my ip, and how would I do that?
Other servers: why should anything happen to them?
Changing IP: usually, just disconnect and reconnect the internet connection. Not Steam on your PC, I mean restart your router. That might or might not work however, TV cable providers assign IPs for a month or so, DSL IPs change upon every reconnect.

maybe the admin banned your country or that admin does IP range bans and you are unlucky.

Nothing should happen to your other servers.

As far as changing your IP, that depends on your ISP. Some ISPs offer dynamic IP addresses, and your IP Address changes, either on a time base, or when you restart your modem, etc. Others are Static, and identify modems on their network by MAC Address, and assign a permanent IP Address that cannot be readily changed.

And what are IP range bans?
What it says, a whole range banned. E.g. "All IPs from Brazil banned".

if that game only does IP bans it is easy for someone to restart his modem and get a new IP.
only the IP range does not change you just take of the last bit of the IP and you ban everybody with that IP range.

I done it with someone that had many accounts on my day of defeat server , after coming back with account 3 I did a range ban.

Yeah but that still wouldn't explain how my friend who lives in the same country was playing in it.
You asked what IP range bans are, not if that's the case for you. So please don't argue with me about that.

a whole country is not on the same IP range.

Then make it several sub-ranged combined into one super range.

Pretty sure KOTH uses profile bans. Try changing your player profile in Arma 3 and rejoining the server under a new profile. That might clear it up. If not I suggest going to the KOTH webpage which you can find by googling KOTHARMA and putting up a post in their forums.
