Scammers getting you reported for reporting them for scam
I started having problems with this like 2 days ago, steam community can actually check that i've reported more than 40-50 people with fake link scams
people who scammed offers etc etc
But the people that understand im reporting them,or the people i've told im reporting them got to report me back, now im getting the scam trade flag, when i've NEVER EVER scammed anyone,i even have chats of talking with random people who add me and explaining to them how people are trying to scam them with those fake link or fake steam wallet funds etc etc,and what i get from steam is the flag of the scammer?I need people to see into this cus i've never even tried to scam and i believe i've spent hours fighting back the scamming,so at the very least i expect to get unflagged and not get flagged again cus russian scammers report me cus they failed to scam me

p.s i dont know if this is the right place to do it,so if its not im sorry,im new to forum sections

then steam deserves to crash as a community and game engine, when it cant even protect and support its own members

Steam doesn't care about your account, they care about your BANK ACCOUNT only , they want only your cash, the rest is crap for them

Ok well i like to play the second side of the story that non of you seem to want to look at...

How will Steam/Valve know the case with out checking it?
The flag is automated giving for some amount of reports.. now i know its a pain for any user that is clear and good like you
But on the other hand its like a cap on a hole.. its not going to hold something from going for long but it can block for a while

The point of the flag is worn users that do not really understand in trading that these user may be a scammer so they need to look over what is going on with 4 eyes
Its there after some users report someone, for some time or up to when Valve clear the flag and replay its a safe user

Its not blocking you from trading, i do understand some users do not understand its only a red flag, to worn not to tell you not to trade.. if that was the case then you will have not been able to trade at all

And what you want Valve to do abut it? that is what i really do not understand, do you think that each legit user that gets it needs to post a ticket/post on the forums and Valve will go one by one and remove it? as that is madness

And a user like you that helps around and try to teach the new users what is what needs to understand most of all why these messages are important, more then that be sure to tell users that you help what that message really means, so they will know
I've said this before, but I really feel that user-generated "warning, possible scammer" flags are a lot more harmful than they are helpful simply because they are so easy to abuse, as this thread so well illustrates. It's been said they only last a certain number of weeks, but even that can serve to damage an active trader's activities despite the fact that it does not prevent them from trading. It's just a bad system. It either needs some Valve oversight as to investigating whether or not the complaint is warranted, or it needs to be gotten rid of imho.

the people making these false reports should just get a good community ban permanent the second time.

it does not happen to me but I don't open trades with just anybody because of it.
bot trading for me.
cRz 4 jul, 2014 @ 6:54
yeah i believe each and every single ticket needs to be looked at and dealt with, otherwise discussions, reports, bugs are all useless if the actual foundation of these sections is missing;i never said flag isnt important;of course it is,BUT as you mentioned im losing traders that are new and dont know what the flag means;it also affects my negotiations because people have second thoughts about a deal already closed when they see the flag;so since the steam community cannot make its home cleaner why would i or anyone else in my position keep on trading or buy/sell stuff at the market?i find it way too disturbing that steam cannot cover its clients, imo if it cant support everyone you should have a much smaller community,
If u cannot support your clients, what's the reason of having a support section?

Thanks for taking the time to write these stuff down though!
appreciated

To be honest i think Someone (best maybe Valve) make a guide on Steam so people will know what is what (i am working on one.. but will take me ages to be done and likely to miss things), like for these message that many get the wrong idea abut
Or things on Steam many users do not know there is like the Shift+Mouse click to open new window, or guides and hubs and all that good stuff...

In the end to get rid of the message best is to teach users what a scam is and how to know that there is one, and its also the same to leave the message, as if users know what it is. it will help and not be of harm, or so i think

it is more usefull to scammers/lowballers than to legit traders.
it has become a pressure tool.

I once got false reported too because he wanted to trade his stuff back that we recently traded.
I declined because my time is valueble to me too.
He reported me for that, and now i am walking around for weeks with a false notification.
So sometimes whenever i trade a random guy, they call me scammer, or insult me for nothing, and that's just a pain in the ass.

I totally agree with spoof, these reports should been taken a bit more serious, or at least give the reported guy a chance to explain his side of the story.
