Steamwebhelper not responding - Whisky Emulator
Hi there, I have been using an emulator called Whisky to load windows steam games on my M1 MacBook Air. Until today, it has been working just fine, successfully opening Steam and my windows game. However, when I tried loading it today, it got stuck in the 'Steamwebhelper not responding' page, with the options of Restart Steam, Restart Steam with GPU Acceleration Disabled, Restart Steam with Browser Sandboxing Disabled, Restart steamwebhelper, and Exit Steam. None of these helps opening the Steam App. I've also tried reinstalling Steam with the newest version on the website. Anyone have solutions to this?

Is there anyway to make it a 64bit?

Not really. I suggest start looking for new pc's. Just make sure it has 64bit or even a higher architect on it.

You would probably spend more money trying to get your pc up to 64 bit. You would have to buy a new motherboard, a new processor, a new graphics card, a new operating system.

it would be cheaper just to buy a new pc.

I am getting this error today as well on an M2 MBP. I have never had Whisky installed before today.

RPG, Its not a PC issue. I am using a M2 MacBookPro and Steam worked well with Whisky until today when Steam force mandated an update, disallowing the program from working. It's a 64bit OS, which can play both 32 and 64 bit programs.

Any one have an update from Steam or Whisky on a fix?

Update from Steam:

------

We are unable to provide support for running the Windows version of Steam or the Windows version of games on a macOS through emulation software.

Please use the native macOS version of Steam or Boot Camp.

If you are still seeing the issue after making the above suggestion, please let us know, will continue to assist you.

This is sad indeed. It looks like the update they forced now renders steam unusable for those using Whisky.

Bro, and I thought I was dumb. Is it looking like Whiskey won't be usable anymore or do you think they will find a work around?

I am having the same exact problem on my MacBook Air M3. Anyone find a workaround yet or whisky alternative to run steam?

I am having the exact same problem with the whiskey emulator

I have been going back and forth with Steam support, and they are taking the bully approach by stating its not their problem, and that Steam on mac needs to use the macOS steam app. They state they don't provide support for those using third party software such as whisky to run their products.

Valve could just make it simple by creating a macOS app that takes advantage of apple silicon and allow their games they sell to be cross platform.
