Randomly losing internet followed by blue screen of death
I haven't found a specific thing i'm doing that makes the internet stop working, other than downloading on steam. After a few minutes of downloading around 3GB a second, it slowly drops lower and lower until it says i'm not connected to the internet. That can be annoying but is more rare because i don't download new games very often. Basically what will happen is I will be on the internet using facebook, youtube, or twitch, and suddenly things will stop loading. I will know immediately that it's acting up again, but by then it's too late. If i pull the usb out that i use for my wifi, it still says in the bottom right corner than i am plugged in but have no internet connection. When this problem isn't happening, unplugging the usb would result in a clear disconnection and the icon at the bottom right will change. Is my problem something with the computer, or do i need a new usb/way of using wifi?

Currently while at the step where it connects to my house's wifi, it loads for a long time "Connecting to your network..."but it fails. Is that because i need to delete the old drivers now?
Check your router here also. There may be a problem there. Can you not test this with ethernet only ?

Aside from drivers being an issue of course, the first step to troubleshoot network issues with Steam specifically is to bypass any router you are using and use ethernet only. This also works of course when just troubleshooting in general as we are now.

I'm not able to connect with ethernet. My stepdad won't let me bring the router closer to my room. Every other device in the house connects to the router just fine. I'm currently replying right now on my computer but i'm having problems figuring out how to update to new drivers

If you cannot eliminate the router as being a problem here, then you cannot fully troubleshoot this properly. If you could use ethernet only, that would really narrow this down, after of course you get the driver installed for that USB device.

I'm really confused because i have the current old drivers for my wifi being used to reply right now, but i downloaded the links that gg posted and it doesn't let me connect to the internet with the new drivers. Is it impossible to connect to the internet twice within the same computer so i need to get rid of my current connection?

Not really sure what you mean here...

Just run that .exe file and install the new driver that you downloaded from Lynksys.

The exe file is stuck on the step of needing to connect to internet. It just doesn't make sense because i'm putting in the right password and choosing the right connection but it says it can't connect. The zip files were extracted into a folder on my desktop but i don't know what they are because everything in the folder is titled random letters

Here is the deal. When you first plug a device into your computer , Windows tries to recognize that device and installs a basic generic driver that should "work" but it is usually not the updated and latest and best driver for that device.

So you have to go to the official manufacturer's webpage and download and install and update that driver.

BSOD errors are very often caused because of driver issues, either because they are not updated or they get corrupted, or you never installed then in the first place. SOMETIMES it is actually the hardware that is failing that causes them, but since this is a new device, perhaps we can rule that out.

You need to install and update the driver for that USB device. Don't ever just let Windows do it for you and let that be it. YOU must update them and I only ever suggest doing that from the official support page for the hardware in question, in this case Lynksis.

Wow I never knew that i'd need to download things after buying new devices. I'm curious how many various drivers i have that can be updated to better my computer.
Are either of the links that GG posted for the new driver? Or do i need to go to the website and get it. (Not trying to sound lazy lol just wondering)

that's the driver files, if you goto device manager and rightclick on Linksys AE2500 and goto update driver software>browse my computer>click browse button and point it to the driver files>click next and it should say updated drivers>reboot and you should be good to go

This is EXACTLY why I asked you that question about Windows 10 right off the bat in this thread, as many are doing just that....upgrading to Windows 10 without even checking for or updating their drivers for that OS. We see that often here...

The .rar file is the driver. He may be correct about that .exe file being just a utility and if so, I am sorry for telling you to run that. Can you not use the guide and use that .rar file as the driver that it installs ?

It immediately replied saying "The best driver software is already installed"

try doing it again, but this time instead of clicking browse goto "let me pick from a list">click have disk>then browse to the drivers again>click ok, it should then show your Linksys AE2500, if not then you don't have a Linksys AE2500

Without letting me select the full folder, it keeps going deeper and deeper until finally selecting: "bcmwlhigh6" Is that right?
ChoGGi 2016년 1월 19일 오후 4시 43분
yes

edit: since you haven't chosen the option in explorer to show file extensions for known files then you can't see the .inf on the end of it (.inf being what windows uses for driver install files)
