Randomly losing internet followed by blue screen of death
I haven't found a specific thing i'm doing that makes the internet stop working, other than downloading on steam. After a few minutes of downloading around 3GB a second, it slowly drops lower and lower until it says i'm not connected to the internet. That can be annoying but is more rare because i don't download new games very often. Basically what will happen is I will be on the internet using facebook, youtube, or twitch, and suddenly things will stop loading. I will know immediately that it's acting up again, but by then it's too late. If i pull the usb out that i use for my wifi, it still says in the bottom right corner than i am plugged in but have no internet connection. When this problem isn't happening, unplugging the usb would result in a clear disconnection and the icon at the bottom right will change. Is my problem something with the computer, or do i need a new usb/way of using wifi?

3GB per second? Please tell me what kind of harddrives you have, I want that r/w-speed aswell.

I honestly don't know if it's per second or whatever. It was just an example for what happens while downloading steam updates/games.

What are your computer specs including the operating system and if you upgraded to Windows 10, tell us that also.
Crane Operator Jan 19, 2016 @ 3:05pm
I don't actually know how to check what my specs are. I've never really been asked this so i don't know what to reply with. I didn't upgrade to windows 10, i use microsoft 7 and it's 64 bit.

Boot your computer into safe mode WITH networking and try to log into Steam that way. Your BSOD error seems to be the most important issue here, so we need to get that corrected.

Alright, well if i do that and log into steam in safe mode, what do i do next

First, it is safe mode WITH NETWORKING, and second we need to just do one thing at a time please so did you do that already ? If you did, can you log in successfully and browse the store and forums and whatnot ? Any errors ? Any BSOD ?

Now go to control panel and then "system" (if you have small icons as your view) and then "device manager".

Expand "Network adapters". What exactly do you see there ?

What is this USB/Wifi device that you are using ? Post the exact info on that device, please. Model, manufacturer, model number, etc.

It could be something called Linksys AE2500, or maybe the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter
ChoGGi Jan 19, 2016 @ 3:30pm
Yes, it is Linksys AE2500 (http://www.linksys.com/us/support-product?pid=01t80000003KVW1AAO)

Just curious, how old is your harddrive (or the computer if you haven't changed the harddrive within it)

edit: when you're in device manager, could you also check under disk drives and post whatever is there?
