Limited User
Hi,

I want to buy and sell items in dota 2 basically activate my steam market. What I did is I bought a card from a retail store, activated it in my account, steam wallet now has a total of P250 = $5. Steam market is still not available.

So, do I need to spend that $5 steam wallet and wait 30 days? Or just wait 30 days? Because I received an error message that says "You must have a valid Steam purchase that is between 30 days and a year old with no recent chargebacks or payment disputes."

Thank you so much!

Market restriction is a different restriction.

Purchase any game from the Steam Store then wait 30 days.

So it's different with in-game store? Like selling and buying my items in Dota 2? So you're saying that I need to spend the $5 that I just added? And wait for 30 days? Thank you so much!

Spend anything, then wait 30 days.

As the good gwait suggested, make a purchase.

Purchase Limitations

Your account must have a successful purchase older than 30 days, but not older than a year in order to access the Community Market. The purchase of wallet funds, games, DLCs and software meet this requirement. Retail CD key activations and gift purchases do not satisfy this requirement.

The keyword is "purchase", you see.

There, I'm really confuse about this line "The purchase of wallet funds, games, DLCs and software meet this requirement" what I understand about it is, adding steam wallet is okay and you don't have to use it yet. That's the one that I'm having trouble with. Spend my steam wallet or not.

You "purchased" that card from a retail store. You did not "purchase" the funds in the wallet using a credit card or bank account, you see.

You have to spend real money on Steam to start the 30 days. Spending that money or some of that money in your wallet counts as a "purchase".

How do I gain access to these features?
You will need to spend at least $5.00 USD within the Steam store.

Some examples of purchases that grant access to these features are:

- Adding the equivalent of $5 USD or more to your Steam Wallet
- Purchasing game(s) that are equal to $5 USD or more from the Steam store
- Adding a Steam Wallet card that is equal to $5 USD or more to your Steam account
- Purchasing a Steam gift that is equal to $5 USD or more from the Steam store (Receiving a Steam gift from a friend doesn't count)

I got it from https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3330-IAGK-7663

So I don't need to spend my $5 steam wallet, correct?

The account now has $5 USD or more activated to it, you can spend it.

Limited account restriction is not the same as trading and market restriction. You are getting those confused. Just spend some of that money in your wallet, please.

I don't get what's not to understand.

Addition of $5 USD or more makes your account unlimited. ✔
Purchase of any Steam game, then waiting 30 days allow you to use the market. ✖

Once you add those funds, you can use them, you don't need to continuously have $5 or more in your wallet in order to continue being unlimited, you can spend it. Only way to become limited again is if you refund the funds.

Same issue with mine, I added P250 as well that's $5 steam wallet, I still can't buy items from dota 2 market. All I need to do now is to wait for my steam wallet to become 30 days old and I can buy that item from dota 2 market. Me too I'm still confuse. LMAO! Thanks to this discussion and to the ones who answered.

Btw this is the screenshot of the error message when I'm trying to buy it.
