Change video driver detected by Steam
A while ago I started a new job (remote cause of pandemic) and to log into my virtual workspace I use a Citrix gateway, which requires the use of a virtual machine. Ever since then I have noticed a significant decline in FPS and quality of games through steam, and I discovered today that Steam is (most likely) using the Citrix virtual driver instead of my NVidia driver as the graphics driver. I'm using an RTX 2060, so I really shouldnt be getting less than 30 fps on bioshock or AOE2... This seems to be a steam specific issue, as Battle.net does not seem to have any frame drops or rendering problems.

Any thoughts on what I could do? I really don't want to uninstall/reinstall citrix if need be as that may interfere with work. Thanks!

You may want to report the bug. I think the client beta developers may be interested in this information. https://steamcommunity.com/groups/SteamClientBeta/discussions/0/

Yes, it is wildly known citrix virtual driver conflicts with Steam.

Honestly I don't know if citrix had any important updates so I don't know if the old methods would resolve some of it, but I recall reading somewhere that it is possible to install citrix without a specific set of parts from the commandline, and that this bypassed some of the issues it gives.

It... probably doesn't fix the issue you mentioned though. No you can't choose what video driver Steam uses, but you can 'disable' drivers. You can prevent windows from keeping drivers loaded in at least, if you want to experiment with that.
