Steam will not load on Windows 10 Startup
I've set the option many times, even using administration mode, but the option just disappears.

Clean Install of Windows 10 as well.

What "option" are you talking about ?

What exactly do you see happening when you go to the Steam.exe file and click on it directly and run it as administrator ? Do you see any error messages ? What happens ?

EDIT....Sorry, I think I understand now.

You have Steam set to start automatically on boot and that's not working for you. Boot the PC into safe mode with networking. Try to see if Steam will run automatically on startup there. If it works fine there, you seem to have software conflicting with Steam loading in a normal boot.

Have a look here :

EDIT..Have a look at startup programs in msconfig. If Steam is not listed there, it would seem that it's not being added to the Windows Startup folder.

It's not being added to the windows startup folder when I tell Steam to start with windows.
However, I just manually put it into the startup folder.

Is there a way to make it start in the tray area instead of the window opening?

I am not personally aware of a Steam option to do that, but there may be a way to do it from Windows, but not sure. You could ask here if you wish :

Or maybe someone else can give you advice on how to do it from this thread soon. Sorry, as I don't know how.

This is literally how it has always happened for me. On multiple pc's over many years, it launches to the tray... no window unless I open it myself.

Thanks, shiel. I don't set Steam to start on boot myself, so was not sure. Appreciate the tip.

I don't use any type of optimizing app such as CCleaner.
I did the steam interface as mentioned, even when I ran steam as administrator, but the setting doesn't stick.

This is by no means a skill issue, I've probably been around computers longer than you've been alive. I know what I'm doing and it's extremely easy to click a simple check box that tells Steam to load with Windows, however, it never saves that setting for me. Even tried it in administration mode.

Use Avira for AV, Comodo for Firewall don't actively run anti-malware 24x7, but when I do, it's Malwarebyte.

kindly disable Malwarebytes.

if i remember correctly, Malwarebytes prevents Steam from accessing the internet connection 100%.

I don't let Malwarebytes run all the time, doesn't auto-load either due to issues like you state. I only run it manually every month or two.

Could possibly be a conflict with these security suites, too. Sometimes, having two different ones installed can cause issues with other programs and maybe each other.

You can always do the safe boot test to see if you have a software conflict :
