Arma 2 DOWNLOAD using 100% CPU
My CPU can put a hole in a wall and Steam is currently maxing it out downloading the base Arma 2 , I can hear the Noctua cooler gunning it, that's weird.

Why the hell would Steam need >5Ghz to download some old game?

Main source of usage is Steam Client WebHelper, crazy.
This is a Ryzen 7600 on Windows 11 (Secure Boot disabled / Trusted computing crap disabled)
I'd maybe chalk it up to post download validation and stuff but it's only at 34% download, this is all network and disk I/O, weird.
No clue.
pause the download, close the webhelper, restart the download.

When you figure out why that happened or which window it was, you can post a bug report

Yeah, tried playing around with that, weird thing is if you pause the download CPU usage drops to nothing, unpause, boom, 100%, fans spinning up. Weirdest thing I've ever seen Steam do.

Maybe this is some kind of legacy Steam unpacking processes or something? Arma 2 is pretty damn old. Maybe it's a compression/uncompression technique that really leans on CPU or something, wildly inefficient seeing as it's locked to 100% usage the whole download.

Wouldn't recommend doing this on the more thirsty Ryzen CPUs, this one is thankfully 65w at cap but those big dogs would melt doing this.

I'm also on mostly solar power / lithium so I freak out when my rig's power usage goes nuts.
