I can recommend some games. Some might not be out yet. First off is older sims games. Sims 3 is also available on steam. NOTE: MOST ARE NOT ONLINE!

There is also Sims medevil, not sure if it is a EA app only game, or availabe on steam, but it is also a sims game.

Technically, EA has a monopoly on sims games sadly. This game is from a different company and is very sims like, but it is not out yet:

There was at one time a sims online game online, but i think they stopped online functionality to it. The biggest complaint about it was micro transactions in the game for even skilling your sims up.

IF you want a sims like game online, there is nothing like it, but there are many MMORPGS you could try that have social interactions between characters. Do not expect them to be a carbon copy of the sims games though. As i said earlier, EA has a monopoly currently on the sims games.
