There is no evidence there is anything wrong with Windows, so it's foolish to suggest such a daft endeavour.
Op, if you can't uninstall it, that suggest to me the install itself was problematic and didn't go properly. As you're using a disc opy, is this known as a working version for Windows 10 (I assume you're using)?
Because if not, that's entirely likely. It won't install properly, and it will get confused trying to uninstall whatever has been installed.
The best you can do is find where the install data resides, delete everything there manually (also look up any registry settings if you REALLY want to go to town for legacy data). Then find out if this version works and installs properly by Googling something like "using Hearts of Iron disc on Windows 10". Someone may have bunged something up about getting it running.
If you really get stuck, places like ModDB are a good start.
then validate game files after that should fix this.
hmm its possible, yes im running windows 10. The game itself seems to have installed properly, there are the desktop icons and everything, but then these problems.
So i'll try what you suggest, thanks for the advice.
If you're sure it seems to have installed correctly, then I wouldn't worry about uninstalling it at this stage.
Try the usual things with older games first - going into properties and playing with compatibilitt modes, to see if you can get it to run. From experience thus far, Windows 10 seems to be pretty good at running odler games in compatibility mode - better than previous Windows imo. Again, if you truly get stuck, Google for tips on getting this to run under Windows 10. Sod's law states that if you want to do this someone else will have done it somewhere and likely have posted about it.
Best of luck.
